We clean rentals between tenants

A clean between tenants happens in the gap after one tenant moves out and before the next one moves in. The unit is empty, so this is the one time you can reach everything. That means the inside of every cabinet and the tracks a sliding door runs in. We start high with light fixtures and cabinet tops. Loose dust then falls on surfaces we have not cleaned yet. Floors come last.

A new tenant judges the unit in the kitchen and the bathroom. We clean the fridge with the shelves and drawers pulled out, and we get the grease off the oven walls and the range hood. In the bathroom we scrub soap scum off the tub surround and the grout, then the mineral ring around each faucet. A unit can look fine from the doorway and still have a sticky shelf or hair behind the toilet. That is the first thing a new renter takes a picture of.

In a building with more than one unit, the front entry and the stairs take the most wear. From the first snow until spring, tenants carry road salt and sand in on their boots. We sweep it up first, then mop with clean water that gets changed often, so the salt comes up instead of getting spread around.
